It seems like just a few months back I joined coll n guess what... more than 1 yr has gone by!! The First one yr in coll was a story of not so many ups n downs. And to be honest about ragging there is hardly any traces of ragging that remain in our coll n we guys (the Tamil guys a.k.a MADDUS which is how the Tamil guys r referred to here) weren’t even given a taste of tat n guess wat we guys actually don’t have any juniors (I mean from Tamil nadu) to rag tooL. We didn’t rag or get ragged. What bad luck. But actually I am not a big fan of ragging so it’s alright for me. N hence this chapter of ragging in my coll life has come to an end even b4 it could start.
Almost two months of our 3rd sem is over n I am beginning to get a good feel of how the mechanical dept of NIT Rourkela functions. There will be no shortage for lazy students in any coll and our coll is no exception. But our coll is different by the fact that the laziest among the lot are the Profs. Now hows that for a change. You’ll understand that clearly if u read what I’ve written below.
This was an incident which took place just a few days back. Our classes, if at all we have one, are supposed to go on in the second floor. We have a subject called “kinematics and dynamic machines”. The professor who teaches that subject actually is pretty satisfied with giving just a few guest appearances a month!! Last Monday Darun and myself were on our way to the canteen n on the way we saw this Prof Waiting outside the lift for it to come. Fortunately (soon you’ll come to know why) the lift wasn’t functioning properly that day and when that prof realized this we thought he would take the staircase and get to the class. But instead to our surprise this prof was so lazy that since the lift wasn’t working he decided to suspend the class instead of climbing up two floors to take class...I am sure many of you people don’t understand that laziness is a virtue. In fact in the Linux community laziness is acknowledged and valued above even eagerness and interest. And we the people here at NIT-Rourkela acknowledge this fact, especially that prof.
Anyway I seriously thank god for understanding my needs n sending such a prof to take my class... so what else... my midsem exams are supposed to get underway this Thursday. Presently the more important thing on my agenda is to catch the Dhanbad-allepey express on September 30th (next Thursday) and get back home. Anyways even if the exam isn’t that important, it still does remain somewhere down the order on my agenda and that means I gotta start studying at least now if I want my B.Tech degree... So bye for now
